Classical Structure with Homeschool Flexibility

Is Granite for You?

If you and your family believe and follow Jesus Christ, if you treasure or want to try the classical method, or if you are homeschooling and would like to receive academic support and structure, you are quite likely excellent candidates for Granite Classical Tutorials.

The mission of Granite Classical Tutorials is to provide an education that is Christ-centered and classical in its educational methods and materials. Additionally, Granite intentionally remains part-time because we prize the benefits of homeschooling. Granite Classical is a unique educational hybrid consisting of a tutorial service with a homeschool component. During the school week, two classroom days create structure and routine and three homeschool days provide the flexibility of a home education.

On Granite days (Mondays and Wednesdays), students experience a typical classical school environment; they adhere to a dress code, have classes and lunch with peers, participate in age-appropriate classical drills and discussions, and form lasting friendships with classmates. Learning how to learn is the trophy of classical education. During class time, tutors shepherd small groups of children through a robust exploration of the facets of Western culture, challenging students with age-appropriate yet rigorous class instruction and activities. Our tutors strive to make learning a joyful experience for all ages.

On homeschool days students work under the supervision of the teaching parent and the direction of the tutor via home assignments. Because of tutor expertise, the educating parents need not master all this material themselves, but maintain the privilege and responsibility of overseeing the homeschool. Throughout the year, Granite families are part of a community that provides enrichment experiences such as field trips, drama productions, and special events.

Because we are Christ-centered, the school day begins with chapel, in which students and tutors are led in worship and thoughts about Christ, His gospel, and ways to glorify and enjoy Him. Our faculty and staff are intent on following Christ and therefore uphold a Christ-like standard of kindness and care in our halls and classrooms. Ultimately, the goal of the Granite program is to equip students to engage a fallen, broken culture with the truth of the gospel.
